About the Author

Clenice Hunt is the youngest of seven and was raised in Flagstaff, Arizona. She earned her bachelor’s degree in fine arts with an emphasis in professional dance and a minor in Spanish. She was a gymnast, head cheerleader, and a study-abroad student. She was chosen as a member of the elite championship formation ballroom dance touring team at BYU, which is a cherished experience forever. She served a mission in Guatemala before marrying the father of her four children, James Gott. He was a baseball player in the minor leagues. Together, they shared the excitement of making it into the major leagues, which was a thrilling and unique accomplishment. Jim was a pitcher with the Toronto Blue Jays, the San Francisco Giants, and the Pittsburgh Pirates during their ten-year marriage.

Clenice was naturally outgoing and optimistic, but those personality traits were all but snuffed out during the battle she encountered when one of her four children was diagnosed with autism. Everything turned upside down. The violence and anger her child displayed were heart-wrenching. His resilience inspired Clenice to write about their journey in herfirst book, Rising Above Autism.

Clenice wants to especially thank her three children Jenise, Ryan, and Tyler who helped their brother obtain a better and happier life. Many times, she wondered if they would make it through the darkness. But God always holds a light somewhere . . . Even in the worst of times, the light is always there.
